Overview

Lower Dolpo Trek

Lower Dolpo Trek is a trip into the remote areas of the far western belt of Nepal. Dolpo Trekking is an exciting trip around the Dolpo region that allows exploring the ancient Bon culture and the traditions of the people. Bon is the people who migrated from Tibet and live in the higher Himalayan belt of Nepal. Lower Dolpo Trekking allows learning the living style and the cultures of the Buddhist people living around the area. With their own culture, customs, and language, the Bon and Buddhist people are setting a unique example in the country.
The less crowded trekking route of Nepal, the Dolpo trek also offers to visit the famous Phoksundo Lake. Ringmo village is another pick of the trek. Located on the landslide dam the village has a Bon temple which is named Bon or Ringmo Temple. Likewise, there is an impressive 167m long waterfall near the village to visit. Several other farm villages are the other attractions of the trek.
Similarly, the high passes of Numa La at 5309 meters and Baga La at 5,169 meters add challenge and excitement to the trek. The diverse landscapes of the region and the greater views of Mount Kagmara and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges are the best part of the trek. A camping trek into the remote area, the trek is an exciting one as there is a high chance of encountering wildlife like snow leopards and blue sheep too.
Like other trekking in Nepal, the Lower Dolpo trek is also seasonal trekking. The best time to trek to Lower Dolpo is spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). Whereas, the winter (December to February) and monsoon (June to August) are not recommended.
