Overview

Everest Three Passes Trek is one of the best trips in the Himalayas. One of the adventurous trekking in Everest, the challenging three passes trekking includes of crossing the three high passes of- Renjo La, Cho La and Kongma La. All of the three passes are elevated above the 5000 meters above the sea level. 
The great achievement and the wonderful challenge, Everest three passes is a complete trekking in Everest. Crossing over the high scenic passes of Khumbu with the mind-blowing views of mountains is an excellent experience. The exploration traditional and unique Sherpa villages enriched with ancient Buddhist cultures is the next pick of the trek. 
The best elevation of the trek is- Kongma-la at 5,535m, Kalapathar top at 5,545 m with Everest base camp 5,364 m at Everest BC crossing Tsho-La 5,368 m and Renjo-la at 5,360 m are super exciting and challenging on the other end. 
The best time to trek Everest three passes trek is spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). Although trekking three passes in the month of December is also good. But trekking three high passes in the month of monsoon (June to August) is not recommended due to the heavy rainfall.

Itinerary

Upon your arrival at Kathmandu international airport, A1 Trek representative welcomes you and will help you to transfer to the hotel. You can then take a good rest in the hotel. Later you can explore around yourself if interested.

Go for Kathmandu valley sightseeing to explore the historical and cultural city. The sightseeing is dedicated on exploring four of the UNESCO world heritages listed sites of Kathmandu valley. Those four sites include- Kathmandu durbar square, Soyambhunath, Boudhanath and Pashupatinath.
After the sightseeing, you can then focus on the trek preparation. You can hire or buy the necessary equipment in Thamel. In the evening, you will be meeting your guide for the trip meeting.

With an early morning flight, you will be arriving Lukla airport. At Lukla, meet the porters before the starting the trek. The route to Phakding is easy one. Just keep on your eyes as the finest views of Kusum Kanguru can be collected. Phakding is a small settlement in the Dudh Koshi river bank. Enjoy a comfortable night stay at the Phakding teahouse.

Start the day with a good breakfast. Get into to Monjo then enter to Sagarmatha National park- the home for the greatest Himalayan flora and faunas. The dense forest of blue pine, deodar,rhododendron and more. On the clear day, you can also catch the first glimpse of Mount Everest on the way up to Namche Bazar. With six hours of trek, you will be reaching Namche Bazar- which is also famous as the Sherpa capital. Namche is the home for the famous mountaineers. You will be staying two nights at Namche before heading up.

After the breakfast, you will be hiking up to Everest view point to collect the 360 views of mountains. The view point offers the stunning views of Himalayas including mount Everest. Later in the afternoon, you can explore Namche Bazar or can take a good rest in your hotel.

After spending two beautiful days in Namche Bazaar, you will be trekking to Thame this day. The route to Thame from Namche Bazar is gradual uphill and some part of downhill combination. The views along the route are exceptional as the Mount Ama Dablam specially looks the greatest. Upon reaching Thame, you can take a good rest in your teahouse. You will be staying at a local teahouse at Thame.

This day is dedicated for the acclimatization. You will be doing additional hiking to Sumdur Peak. Sumdur is a prominent peak/ridge with the excellent views of Mount Everest, PasangLhamu Peak, Cho Oyu. PapchamaPeak,Tengkhamuche,Kongde,Thamserku ,KhangTeka,KusumKhangkaru ,TengiRiu Tau and other adjoining peaks. 
Upon getting back from the hike, you can go around and explore the beautiful village of Thame. You will be staying overnight at a local teahouse.

After the two excellent days in Thame, today you will be further hiking to Lungdhen. The walk begins with a short ascent to the ancient chorten just above Thame village. Then you will enter to the village in between in the hills where the big mountains hides. Lungdhen is a small Sherpa village with very few local teahouses. You will be staying overnight at a local teahouse.

A longer and exciting day, you will be crossing one of the three passes- Renjo La pass at 5435 meters. Starting early with the packed lunch and the sufficient water to drink, you will first ascend the steep uphill to get to a flat valley.  Walking some time inside the flat valley reaching the bottom, you will the take steep uphill through the loose rock area and then to the top of the pass. The top of the pass is full of good views of mountains including Mount Everest, Cho Oyu, Cholatse, Ama Dablam, Makalu, Thamserku Himal and more. Additionally, the Ngozumba glacier looks stunning from the ridge. After enjoying the best views, you will be descending down to the Gokyo valley for the night. Gokyo is one of the best valleys in Everest with many glacial lakes. You will be staying overnight at a local teahouse at Gokyo valley.

Hike to the steep uphill to reach to the Gokyo ridge, which is widely famous as Gokyo Ri at the elevation of 5340 meters. The top offers the excellent views of the whole Gokyo valley. The massive Ngozumpa glacier and the top is enriched with the best views of Himalayas including Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu, Cho-Oyu,Gychung Kang and other adjoining Himalayas. You will be then coming back to the teahouse for the breakfast. In the day you will hiking to the fifth lake, which is also the base of Cho Oyu Himal. This way it is one of the beautiful days of the trek. You will be spending the night at a local teahouse

After spending two wonderful days at Gokyo valley, you will be trekking to Thangna this day. It is an easy and pleasant day trip. The route to Thagna is an easy downhill from Gokyo. Upon reaching Thagna, you can take a good rest. You will be staying overnight at a local teahouse.

One of the exciting and the challenging days of the trek, you will be getting to Dzongla after passing Cho La pass this day.  The route first crosses the valley before taking a steep uphill route to Cho La pass. Into the rough ridge, the gradual ascend allows to collect the excellent views of the Himalayas including Mount Everest and the beautiful valley of the other side. You will be then walking across the Cho La glacier which is slipper and bit adventurous to get to the viewpoint to enjoy the mesmerizing views. You will be making the final descend to Dzongla for the night. You will be staying overnight at a local house.

After an exhausting day, today you will be trekking an easier way to Lobuche. Lobuche is small settlement in the valley. You can collect the good views of Mount Ama Dablam and other adjoining mountains from the teahouse. You will be spending your night at a local teahouse at Lobuche.

One of the exciting days, you will first trek to Gorakshep for three hours. You will then have you lunch there. Post lunch, leave your bag packs and start the hike to Everest base camp with some essentials (day pack, water, camera and some chocolates). It takes ninety minutes to get to base camp from Gorakshep. Enjoy the moments, collect the memories and leave the footprint at Everest base camp. Then retrace back to Gorakshep for the night.

Early morning, get to Kalapatthar to collect the best sunrise view. Kalapatthar is actually the better place to see the closer views of Mount Everest. And collecting the sunrise view at Kalapatthar is the best experience. You will then get back to Gorakshep for the breakfast. After having a delicious breakfast, you will be retracing back to Lobuche for the night. You will be spending your night at a local teahouse.

This day you will be completing the all three passes as you will be traversing the Kongma La pass at 5535 meters. The route to the Kongma La pass is mostly uphill till the top through the rough moraine trail beneath Lhotse and Nuptse Peak. The top offers the excellent views of the Himalayas including Mount Everest. You will then take a swept downhill to reach Chukung village. Situated at the elevation of 4760 meters above the sea level, Chukung is a small settlement with an incredible view of peaks including; Island Peak, Lhotse Shar, Lhotse, Nupse and the beautiful Amadablam. You can take an optional hike to Chukungri for the best views. You will be staying overnight at Chukung.

After completing the three high passes, you will be now getting to the main trekking route of Everest base camp. From Chhukung, following a downhill route with the good views of Himalayas, you will be getting to Pangboche. Pangboche is a small and beautiful village at the lap of the mountains. You can enjoy the excellent views of mountains at Pangboche. You will be spending your night at a local teahouse at Pangboche.

The easy and pleasant way. Although the distance is bit longer, the route is mostly descending. You will be crossing the familiar village of Pangboche, Tengboche before getting back to Namche Bazar. At Namche Bazar you can go the café to enjoy the good coffee and the fresh bakes.

Retrace the same way back, that you have followed up. Get the final glimpse of mount Everest, enjoy the stunning trails, wish a good luck to the trekkers going up. At Lukla, you will be saying good bye to your porter as well.

With collecting all the greatest memories of the trek, today you will be flying back to Kathmandu. From Kathmandu airport you will be transferred to the hotel where you can take a relaxing rest.
