The best time to trip to Ganesh Himal is spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). Whereas, trekking in the months of winter (December to February) is also a good time. But the months of the monsoon (June to August) are not recommended due to the heavy rainfall.

Location of Ganesh Himal:

Ganesh Himal is a subrange of the Himalayas located in north central Nepal. This mountain is named after the Hindu deity Ganesha. It is relatively less explored compared to some other popular trekking regions of Nepal. Ganesh Himal trekking is an ideal destination for those looking for a more off-the-beaten-path experience in Nepal.

Ganesh Himal lies in Dhading District which is around 150 kilometers away from the capital city of Nepal. 

Ganesh Himal region is renowned for its breathtaking landscapes, which include terraced fields, dense forests, and picturesque mountains and villages. The trekking route follows small rivers like Kali Gandaki, Stul Khola, and many more. Small villages which have their tradition and culture followed by locales. They have their language and many ethnic tribes stay around. 

Pangsang La Pass Location and Height

Pangsang La Pass is a high mountain pass situated in the Ganesh Himal Region. It is a crucial point on the trek, offering panoramic views of the Surrounding peaks and beautiful valleys. The height of pasang-la is 3,800 meters / 12,464 feet. This trekking area is mostly Tamang, Gurung, ghale, and Dalit indigenous people inhabitant.

Best Time to Trek in Nepal

The Ideal time for the Ganesh Himal pasang-la pass trek is during the spring March to May and autumn September to December. At this time, the weather is able and clear enough to see the mountains, fields, and blue sky. The temperature is just perfect, not hot not cold. Due to climate change, sometimes the weather is really bad and cloudy as well as snowy. 

Trekking Challenges:

While this trekking is suitable for trekkers with moderate experience, the high-altitude nature of the trail requires proper acclimatization to complete the final destination. Trekkers should be prepared for varying weather conditions and be physically fit for the ascent of Pangsang La Pass and descent as well.

The Pangsangla pass trek has not been popular in the past few days. But nowadays it's becoming much more popular and people can enjoy the views of Langtang Himal, Boudh Himal, Manaslu Mountain, and Annapurna ranges from this trekking.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrival in Kathmandu( 1,350 m / 4,430 ft) and transfer to Hotel.

Upon your arrival at Kathmandu International Airport, Adventure A One Trek representative welcomes you and will help you to transfer to the hotel. You can then take a good rest in the hotel. Later you can explore around yourself if interested. 

Day 2 : Kathmandu valley sightseeing (4/5 hours’ tour) and preparation.

Go for Kathmandu Valley sightseeing to explore the historical and cultural city. The sightseeing is dedicated to exploring four of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed sites of Kathmandu Valley. Those four sites include- Kathmandu Durbar Square, Soyambhunath, Boudhanath, and Pashupatinath.

After the sightseeing, you can then focus on trek preparation. You can hire or buy the necessary equipment in Thamel. In the evening, you will be meeting your guide for the trip meeting. 

Day 3 : Drive to Satdobato (900m./2952ft./7/8 hours’ drive).

The journey to Satdobato begins after breakfast. From the hotel, you will be transferred to a new bus park, Kathmandu. You will then catch the local bus to get to Satdobato. The journey to Satdobato is through the green hills and several local settlements. Upon arriving at Satdobato, you will be staying at a local lodge for the night

Day 4 : Trek to ThuloChaur (1100m./3608ft./5/6 hours’ trek).

A wonderful journey begins as you will be trekking through the beautiful Tamang villages. Tamang is one of many tribes in Nepal, especially living in the upper hilly region of Nepal having unique cultures and living styles. On the way to ThuloChaur, you will get a chance to visit a wonderful monastery before getting to ThuloChaur. ThuloChaur is a small village with amazing local people. You will be staying overnight at a local lodge. 

Day 5 : Trek to Kharka (5/6 hours’ trek/1800m./5905ft).

Setting the destination to Kharka, you will be starting your day after breakfast. The route to Kharka is slightly uphill through the rhododendron forest. The forest looks beautiful if it is the time of spring. Following the forest and then crossing a nice water stream, you will then reach Kharka for the night. You can collect good views of the Langtang mountain range at Kharka. 

Day 6 : Trek to Rupchet (5/6 hours’ trek/ 3840m./12598ft).

Today, Following the uphill route, you will be trekking through the cool forest of rhododendrons and pine. You can collect the amazing views of peaks along the way to Rupchet village.  Upon arriving at Rupchet, you can walk around the village to explore and prepare yourself for the next day. 

Day 7 : Singla Pass (4050m.) and trek to Shertung(1875m./6151ft./7/8 hours trek).

From Rupchet you will be hiking to the Singla Pass first. Located at an elevation of 4050 meters, Singla Pass top offers greater views of mountains including the Annapurna, Ganesh Himal, and Langtang mountain ranges. You can also get good views of the Tibetan mountains here.  After crossing the Singla pass, you will be getting down to Shertung for the night. You will be staying overnight at a local lodge.

Day 8 : Pangsang La (3800 m) and trek to Larkap (3500m./11482ft./6/7 hours’ trek).

Taking the steep uphill route, you will be hiking towards Pasngsang La pass. Located at an elevation of 3800 meters, the ridge offers good views of mountain views. Then after taking the downhill route, you will be trekking to Larkap for the night. You will be staying at a local village in Larkap. 

Day 9 : Trek to Somdang (3200 m/10498ft./5/6 hours’ trek).

The journey resumes after breakfast, as you follow the dense rhododendron and the pine forest to Somdang. You can collect the best views of Paldor and Ganesh Himal along the way. Upon arriving at Somdang you can walk around the beautiful village of Somdang. It is a nice village inhabited by the Tamang people. Tamang people have their own cultures, traditions, customs, and languages. Enjoy exploring the beautiful village. You will be staying overnight at a tented camp.

Day 10 : Rest day.Hike to JaisaliKunda (4000 m/13123ft./3 hours hike).

The rest day is dedicated to doing a side hike to Pansang Pass and JaisaliKunda. The hike offers extraordinary views of Ganesh Himal and Paldor Peak. Upon completing the hike, you will get back to Somdang for the night. You will be staying overnight at a local lodge. 


Day 11 : Trek to Gatlang (2500 m/8202ft./6/7 hours’ trek).

From Somdhang you will be first hiking up to KhurpeBhanyang. Upon reaching the top of the ridge, you will be then trekking a downhill route to Gatlang. The amazing views of mountains can be collected at the ridge. Whereas, Gatlang is a beautiful Tamang village with farmlands. You can walk around the local village in your free time. You will be staying overnight at a local lodge. 

Day 12 : Trek to Syabrubesi (1460 m/4790ft./5/6 hours trek).

The final day of the amazing Ganesh Himal and Pansang La pass trek. You will be trekking a way back to Syabrubesi through the wonderful local villages. Several monasteries and the Chortens can be found on the way back to Syabrubesi. Upon arriving at Syabrubesi, you can stay overnight at a local lodge. 

Day 13 : Drive back to Kathmandu (1350m./4429ft./6/7 hours’ drive).

After breakfast, you will be taking your ride back to Kathmandu. In Kathmandu, you can do some last-minute shopping near the hotel. 

Day 14 : Final departure .

After an amazing week in Nepal, you will be transferred to Kathmandu airport to catch your return flight home. Our representative will be helping you to transfer to the airport, with the hope of seeing you again in Nepal.  “FERI BHETAULA”.
