Everest Base Camp Heli Trek Difficulty

Everest base camp's difficulty depends upon trekkers' fitness and ability to cope with rough high altitude terrain. Everest base camp is not that hard the only difficulty is climbing uphill with thin air to breathe.  From Lukla onward, for a few days, the walk leads on a gradual path with few shorts and ups.

The walk up on the undulating trail to Namche Bazaar at 3,440 m high can lead to difficulty for some trekkers. Taking slow and having enough short rest will make the journey possible and easier to handle the steepness.

Staying in Namche Bazaar for two nights will support acclimatization at the high altitude before reaching higher destinations. From Namche onward, there are a few steep ups to encounter, like climbing up to Tengboche, amidst beautiful woods.

Taking a slow pace and a short refreshing break will be good on a climb to Tengboche which takes a maximum of two hours. After Tengboche leaves the forest behind heading towards a higher country, where the air gets much thinner.

The walk from Tengboche is on a gradual slow uphill, but to rise in elevation makes the pace slower. Trekkers need to stop and take a break until they feel well enough to move onward. The other steep section en route to Everest Base Camp is a short steep and strenuous climb atop Thugla Pass.

On reaching the top rest of the walk to Lobuche is pleasant, but one feels quite breathless at the high altitude in the Nepal Himalayas. From Lobuche, the walk is enjoyable with short ups above Khumbu glacier and over a moraine of rocks to Gorakshep.

From Gorakshep taking a refreshing stop, the walk follows on winding gradual path to Everest base camp. Just before reaching the Everest base camp, might come across some obstacles like slipper icy path and crossing streams.

The path around the Everest base camp is broken by smaller icy cold rivulets and stepping on slippery stepping stones. However, the walk is not difficult landscape-wise, the next and hardest is the climb to Kalapathar.

Kalapathar is the highest point viewing Mount Everest for trekkers in Khumbu Valley. this is one of the adventures at 5,545 m high and is one of the best spots for excellent panoramic views. Walking early in the fresh morning cool air, a steep strenuous climb of two hours or less. The first section of the climb from Gorakshep is steep to a hard grassy field, where most helicopters land.

The walk continues gradually up as you face marvelous views of Mount Everest and if you want to know more about Everest click here, and the surrounding high peaks. Feeling worth the climb and all the difficulties facing the closest views of majestic Mount Everest at a stone's throw distance.
