Gokyo Valley Trek is a high-altitude valley in the Khumbu region of Nepal. This area is also located within Sagarmatha National Park. It is famous for its stunning Gokyo Lakes, the Ngozumpa Glacier, the largest glacier in the Himalayas, and breathtaking views of some of the world’s highest peaks. Mount Everest, Mount Lhotse, Mount Makalu, and Mount Cho-Oyu.  This area is very famous for yaks, which are well-known as a mountain animal.

History of Gokyo Lake

Gokyo Lake is a series of six glacial lakes located in the Sagarmatha National Park of Nepal. It is an altitude of about 4,700-5,000 meters. These lakes are considered the world's highest freshwater lake system and hold a religious, ecological, and trekking hub. Its significance of near Everest Base Camp, and it can cross the Chola Pass and reach EBC within 3 days.

The lakes were formed by Glacial meltwater from Ngozumpa Glacier. One of the Largest Glaciers in the Himalayas. The Gokyo Lake is a major trekking destination in Nepal. People often visited as an alternative to the Everest base camp trek. The Gokyo Ri viewpoint is 5,357 meters offers stunning panoramic views of Mount Everest, Mount Lhotse, Mount Cho-Oyu, and Mount Makalu. The Area became more accessible to International Trekkers after the Establishment of Sagarmatha National Park in 1976. History of Dole Village

Dole is a small, picturesque village located in the Khumbu region of Nepal. It is an Altitude of approximately 4,200 meters. It lies on the Gokyo Valley trek Route. They serve as an important stop for trekkers travelling between Namche Bazaar and Machhermo on their way to the Gokyo Lakes.

Dole village is surrounded by steep hills, alpine forests, and towering peaks. It offers stunning views of Snow-capped mountains, including Khumbila, Tawoche, Cho-Oyu, and Thamsherku. The village is located along the Dudhkoshi River. During the Trekking Season, the hillside is covered with Rhododendron forests. It creates a colourful landscape. 

This village has several teahouses and lodges providing basic accommodation and meals for trekkers. Since it is a high-altitude settlement, many Trekkers stay here to rest and acclimatize before continuing to higher elevations. The village has limited facilities, but the hospitality of the local Sherpa Community makes it a Comfortable and welcoming place for visitors.

Cultural and Lifestyle

Dole is Home to a small Sherpa community, who have traditionally relied on yak herding and agriculture. With the growth of trekking tourism, many locals now run lodges and teahouses to serve visitors. The Village reflects the rich Buddhist Culture of the region with prayer flags and small Chortens scattered along the trails.
