Everest Gokyo Ri Trek Route

The Everest Gokyo Ri Trek route is a common hiking route in the Everest region of Nepal. Gokyo Valley trek offers spectacular views of the High Himalayas including Mount Everest and takes you through beautiful landscapes.

Similarly, high–altitude lakes, and traditional Sherpa villages. Here is a brief explanation of the trekking route to Gokyo Valley.  while you are doing Gokyo ri trek you will be missing the Khumbu glacier but you will be in Khumbu Valley. 

Kathmandu to Lukla Flight Distance

The Distance between Kathmandu to Lukla for flight is about 135 kilometer. It is depends upon a route, Shortest distance from sky is 135 kilometer.

Flight between Kathmandu to lukla is one of the most scenic flight around the world. Some people really enjoy this flight because from beginning of flight to till ending you will be on top of high hills and snowcapped mountain. 

It is including world’s top mountain Mount Everest. Mount Lhotse, Mount Makalu, and Mount Cho Oyu above eight thousand meters peak. 

While you landing in Lukla you will see small mountain town. Lukla serves as the gateway to the Everest region as well as Climbing around High Himalaya peaks like Island Peak, Mera Peak, Labuche Peak, and many more. 


Lukla to Phakding: 

Lukla to Phakding from Lukla, you start trekking towards Phakding, a small town situated at an altitude of around 2,610 meters. The trail passes through green landscapes with pine and oak forests, crossing suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi River.

Phakding to Namche Bazaar: 

Phakding to Namche Bazaar the next destination is Namche Bazaar, a vibrant Sherpa town at an altitude of roughly 3,440 meters. The trail contains crossing more suspension bridges and ascends steeply through pine forests. Many porters carry heavy loads to take the goods up Namche, Khumjung, Tengboche, Pheriche, Dingbuche, Labuche, Gorakshep, and other small villages. 

Acclimatization in Namche Bazaar: It is essential to spend an extra day in Namche Bazaar for acclimatization. During this rest day, you can sightsee the town, visit the Sherpa Museum, and hike to the close Everest View Hotel for panoramic mountain vistas.

Namche Bazaar to Dole:

Namche Bazaar to Dole, leaving Namche and the trail climbs further, passing through rhododendron and juniper forests. You will touch Dole depending on the itinerary you choose. This village is beautiful and from here you can see the beautiful riverside and several beautiful villages at altitudes of around 4,040 meters.

Dole to Machhermo:

Dole to Machhermo is continuing the trek, you will reach the perfect Gokyo Valley side and reach Machhermo. The trail offers incredible views of the surrounding peaks, including Cho Oyo, the sixth-highest mountain in the world. It is located at an altitude of about 4400 meters. 

Machhermo to Gokyo village: 

Machhermo to Gokyo village, this town is situated near a series of glacial lakes Dudhpokhari (Third Lake). After reaching this town you just take a rest for a few hours and then go for a hike to acclimatization. 

Gokyo to Gokyo Ri & Back:

Gokyo to Gokyo Ri and back to highlight of the trek is the climb to Gokyo Ri, a viewpoint at an elevation of around 5,357 meters. You can observe a panoramic outlook of Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, and other majestic High Himalayas from the top. After enjoying the view, you go downhill back to Gokyo village.

Gokyo to Dole and Namche Bazaar: You will repeat your steps, descending through the beautiful landscapes of the Gokyo Lake trek. You pass through Dole or Machhermoo and eventually reach Namche Bazaar.

Namche Bazaar to Lukla: The trail drops away further from Namche Bazaar, crossing the Dudh Koshi River and climbing uphill to Lukla.

Lukla to Kathmandu: 

Lukla to Kathmandu The trek achieves with a flight from Lukla back to Kathmandu. This will be another panoramic viewing flight back from the Himalayas to the city. 

This is how you will complete your trek and achieve the destination. On the walk up to the Nepal Himalayan region, you will see the mind-blowing view of mountain scenery and natural beauty.

Then from there trek route being different like one orute heading to Thame form Renjola Pass.
