Monsoon Season Trekking in Nepal

Nepal is separated into three major physiographic bindings known as Himal, Pahad, and Tarai, Monsoon season trekking in Nepal is possible in different areas of Nepal, which I mentioned below. Himal is a mountain region that contains snow and is situated in the Great Himalayan range. So, behind the great Himalayas range, there will be less rain you can go trekking those areas. Like Upper mustang Trek, Annapurna Circuit Trek, Rara Lake, and Dolpo trek.

Similarly, you can do some tours like the Kathmandu tour, the Kathmandu Pokhara tour, and the Kathmandu Chitwan Pokhara Tour. Those are several destinations for monsoon-time trekking in Nepal.

Monsoon season trekking in Nepal is in June, July, and August. Tour in Nepal tour is the nice and friendly temperature in the southern part of Nepal like Chitwan National Park, Bardia Jungle Safari, Lumbini, and many other historical places.

Mainly for Trekking Upper Mustang, Annapurna Circuit, and Upper Dolpo Trek are the major Trekking destination during monsoon. Those is less vegetation and the Tibetan plateau. It receives very little rain in this area. 

Annapurna Circuit Trekking in the monsoon season is beautiful on the dry part. The upper part of the Annapurna circuit trek is Manang District fewer vegetation areas and less rain. While you are starting the Round Annapurna Trekking, there will be heavy rainfall slowly going up means there will be less rain.

Much Other Best Trekking is also possible to do in the Monsoon season. Mountain views are often obscured by clouds, the temperature gets high, and rains daily. You will get fewer crowds during that period. Everest Region, Annapurna Region, and Langtang Region trekking will be possible. 

Langtang Valley Trek

In Langtang region trekking you can do three plans like Langtang valley trek. This Trek will be driving to Syabrubesi and the trek starts from there to head up Lama Hotel then Langtang Valley and Kyanging Gumpa. Spending in Kyanging Gompa next morning head up to Kyanging Ri 4,700m or Tserko-ri 5,000m for the view of the high Himalayas. 

Then, the trek back to the same way till Rimche 2,460m back via Sherpa Gaun 2,600. This is one of the best choice and closest distance from Kathmandu. On the way to Gosainkunda, there is the first camp called Chandanbari or Singumpa. This place is a popular Cheese factory. Where you can find fresh cheese and one of the best cheese production in Nepal. 

Tamang Heritage Trek

This Tamang Heritage Trek is the cultural reach of one ethnic tribe of Nepal which is known as Tamang. This trail is almost nice and easy for a week plan, if you have a longer time you can hike up to Langtang Valley as well. If you do have not sufficient time you can do the lower part of the trek as the Tamang Heritage Trail trek.

This hike is also an excellent opportunity to spot a variety of wildlife, such as mountain goats, monkeys, red pandas, Himalayan black bears, and more. The trek culminates in the village of Gatlang, where you explore ancient architecture and local customs.

Gosainkund Lake Trek

This trek is also very popular in monsoon time. There is one festival known as janaipurnima (Full moon) night in July or August. At that time many Hindu people go to the Gosainkunda Lake for worshiping. It will be a short and nice trek for travelers. 

If you have a short time and still want a nice trek Gosainkunda trek will be the best choice for all the hikers. The Elevation of Gosainkunda Lake is 4310m. Monsoon trek will be effected from Landslides, and rivers on the way walking. Similarly, leach is the most aggressive insect in Monsoon time. You need to protect the anti-leach medication that your guide will inform you on the trekking route which is much more effective.

Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek

Ghorepani Poonhill Trek is one of the most popular and accessible treks in Nepal. Located at the foothills of the Annapurna Massif range, the trek offers stunning views of the snow-capped Himalayan range, lush green forests, cascading waterfalls, and local villages. The trek starts from the town of Nayapul, winding through the lower foothills of the Annapurna range, before reaching the Ghorepani village. From there, trekkers can choose to continue to the famous Poon Hill viewpoint, where one can witness the spectacular views of the Annapurna range and Machhapuchhre (Fish Tail).

The base camp in Annapurna has an amusing history dating back to thousands of years ago, and it is believed to have served as a home for both Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims. For many centuries, the base camp area was known as the forbidden sanctuary of the Hindu goddess Annapurna, one of the ten Maha Vidya goddesses in the Hindu pantheon of gods. Even today, a Hindu temple dedicated to the goddess is situated at the base camp.

Lower Mustang Trek

Lower Mustang Trek is located in the Annapurna Region of Nepal. It is located in the remote isolated northern part of the country which is bordering with Tibet. The Annapurna province is known for its spectacular landscape which is famous for the deep gorges and high mountains in this area. 

The Annapurna region trek is home to some of the world’s most popular trekking routes in Nepal. Mustang Trek is one of the most popular trekking routes in the Annapurna region and it takes travelers through the picturesque villages of Kagbeni, Jomsom Muktinath, and Lo-Manthang. There is an ancient walled town which is much more attractive on this trek.

Lower Mustang Trek is known as Muktinath Trek also well known for its unique geography and climate. The region is categorized by deep canyons and arid plains with temperatures fluctuating from minus 25 degree Celsius to 30 degrees Celsius in summer. 

The region is also known for its strong winds making it a stimulating yes pleasing place to travel. Annapurna region is also home to cultural heritage with a variety of ethnic groups including Manangi, Thakali, and Loba peoples.

Upper Mustang Trek

Upper Mustang, also known as Lo-Manthang, is a remote and isolated area in Nepal that lies close to the Tibetan plateau. It is known for its breathtaking scenery its traditional Tibetan tradition, and the old walled city of Lo-Manthang.

It is a desert-like topography that is the home of a distinctive Tibetan culture and the Tibetan language. Its residents are mostly descendants of Tibetan immigrants. As such, Upper Mustang is sometimes called the last surviving pocket of the traditional Tibetan tradition.

The old city walled by Lo-Manthang is the most important settlement in the region. It's an active museum where the old-fashioned style of living, architecture, and culture are preserved. This city is protected by four stone walls. It is also the only city located in Upper Mustang with the right to create a currency of its own.

Upper Mustang is also home to some of the most stunning mountains in the world. It is also home to its Mustang Himal, a range of mountains that lie along the frontier with Tibet.
